Complaint Letter Against Employer Essay
I am composing this email to educate you that the choice made to diminish me of my obligations as office administrator and stay on staff as ââ¬Å"office supportâ⬠has been done on unlawful grounds. A week ago on April 21st I was casually given some ambiguous input with respect to remarks from my collaborator Jane Doe. Her charges found me napping so I mentioned a chance to audit a portion of these worries with the expectation that I could likewise give a concise clarification from my viewpoint. I additionally mentioned chance to survey the set of working responsibilities with the goal that we could affirm the idea of my job in the workplace for clarityââ¬â¢s purpose. Dr. ââ¬Ã¢â¬Ã¢â¬ asked that I be set up to examine what I delighted in doing in the workplace just as the set of working responsibilities, taking note of that I would keep doing the things I appreciated doing and different undertakings would be dealt with by current or future staff. This was to be tended to o n the following work day which was April 25th. Today I tended to Dr. ââ¬Ã¢â¬Ã¢â¬ by the day's end to tell her I was prepared to talk about these issues when she was accessible at which opportunity she returned to the workplace. I was then informed that our record assistant would have been given up, that our save secretary was elevated to full-time and that we would require somebody to supplant Jane who will have her last day in the workplace on April 29th of this current week. In the wake of talking about a couple of the duties of the previously mentioned positions we started looking into the expected set of responsibilities. Dr. ââ¬Ã¢â¬Ã¢â¬ at that point crossed out 80% of the expected set of responsibilities and separated it among a past managerial worker, a contact who has consented to start working with Dr. Khan in June and yourself. This was not what was talked about on April 21st and is an unreasonable aftereffect of an out of line evaluation for the essential reasons beneath: 1. The activity taken by Dr. ââ¬Ã¢â¬Ã¢â¬ doesn't fit the difficult that happened in that there was no verbal admonition, no censure, and no chance to improve. 2. There was no norm or rule of what my situation as an Office Manager comprised of even on an early on level â⬠there was no expected set of responsibilities. 3. I was not told I was being evaluated and not given the points of interest of the appraisal itself and was hence not managed the kindness of clarifying my position enough or in any event, getting where and how the mistakes/clashes happened. 4. The evaluation was fragmented/unequal as one territory of office advancement was surveyed while others that are likewise basic to the capacity of the workplace were not tended to. Additionally, I am sorry to state that this issue presently raises doubt about how things will be settled dependent on the way that you as the HR specialist are likewise the nephew of Dr.

Management and Organisations in a Global Environment E-Learning Activ
Question: Talk about theManagement and Organizations in a Global Environment for E-Learning Activities. Answer: Presentation The mix of market and adhocracy societies of an organization concentrates more on client needs through quality and developments. With such social practices in the association, it demonstrates that the workers likewise are propelled in conveying the best administrations. Along these lines, they join well with tribe culture inside an association. With respect to of a culture in an association, a companys guiding principle, consistency in ingraining the way of life and recruiting methods are among the significant territories to consider. For a culture to work viably inside the association, the help of the staff filling in as a group is required. To cultivate the way of life further, including the network through corporate social obligations is significant. E-learning Activities Corporate Culture and Strategy Keeping up a corporate culture inside and association requires more than worker inclusion. Purchasers and other outside partners additionally have an offer in a developing and supporting a companys culture that mixes well with their methodologies (Gable, Madaus and Stufflebeam, 2012). Being among the unwavering clients of Apple Inc. items, I have encountered a blend of culture from the organization that causes a client to feel fulfilled. Besides, it causes one to feel being a piece of the advancement the organization accomplishes. With regards to the strategic approaches, their market culture centers around shoppers guaranteeing every one of their interests on item quality, bolster administrations, and brand mindfulness are very much tended to. This everyday practice in their activities makes one (as a client) be happy with both the products and ventures they offer. Further, an adhocracy culture of the association has empowered it to comply with the solicitations of their customers. Normally, they update their Operating frameworks and develop new highlights in their gadgets. Likewise, their pace of developments has made it feasible for me as a shopper to get faithful to the brands the organization dispatches. It turns out to be difficult for an individual to move starting with one organization then onto the next when he/she is getting the best quality and the most recent innovation at unequaled. This is the situation with Apple Inc., where their hierarchical culture has a critical spotlight on their customers just as the staff working with it. An impression of their way of life is constantly observed from the peripheral benefits it makes every year because of expanded deals. As indicated by how the organization embraces its activities, its center is fulfilling the buyers of its items since they are the essential drivers of any development an association can experience (Research and Ideas, 2011). Generally, the association works on the standard of individuals first, business activities second. Such a methodology makes it feasible for an office to increase a colossal piece of the overall industry since profitability is high kindness of the client benevolent culture (Guiso, Sapienza and Zingales, 2015, p. 68). With respect to techniques, the organization targets intriguing the two its shoppers, partners and staff through motivating forces, unique offers and free discussions. Apples corporate culture and system mix superbly, and this has been the purpose for the achievement it has delighted in for a long time now. Especially, the media transmission organization is among the most significant global organizations on the planet. As a pointer of a positive effect of effectively incorporating corporate culture to authoritative methodologies, the clients are constantly fulfilled, activities are not debilitated, and workers are held for long (Baumgartner, 2013). This has been the situation at Apple Inc., and therefore, its piece of the overall industry has consistently remained high and benefits ceaselessly expanding regardless of the numerous Corporate Social Responsibilities programs they do far and wide. Corporate Culture Instilled in HRM Practices and Customer Satisfaction The craving to build up a culture-based organization supports the significance of having a fixed schedule that sounds great to the representatives as well as mixes well with the techniques of the association. Accomplishing such an achievement needs a few contemplations. To begin with, the fundamental beliefs of the foundations are to be thought of. Figuring out what the companys reasons for existing are is a stage towards building up a culture that underpins the dreams and missions that are set up. With the utilization of companys values, it is simpler to structure a culture that advances representative maintenance and customer fulfillment (Galpin, Whitttington and Bell, 2015). Along these lines, as organizations target moving towards being society based, their fundamental beliefs must be good with the ideal culture to abstain from conflicting with its procedures. This is as per Tony the CEO for Zappos (2009). Second, recruiting individuals who fit the way of life of the association is critical. As pointed by Bill Taylor (2008) from Zappos, if there must be profoundly connected with clients, there additionally must be profoundly drawn in representatives. Consequently, the determination procedure of faculty must be basic to acquire the splendid personalities required in driving the companys culture to more noteworthy new levels. In spite of the fact that eventually it may be hard to find out the specific characters required, a ceaseless assessment of the workforce is basic. Third, it takes solid initiative to build up a corporate culture that won't effectively conflict with the systems of the organization. Showing others how its done in actualizing the way of life adjusted propelled the remainder of the staff and caused them to have faith in the dreams of the association. Therefore, the impact will be moved to the clients making it conceivable to keep up a higher portion of the market. Fourth, consistency is foremost in building up a culture-based organization. At the point when you think of certain projects to advance execution and profitability of the workforce, make it increasingly visit with the goal that it can impart the qualities to all the individuals from the association (Rishi and Moghe, 2013, p. 21). At the point when pioneers consider the staff as a group rather that free individual, it will be anything but difficult to incorporate all the thoughts without a moment's delay and offer one shared objective consistently. In conclusion, the network is a key player in deciding the accomplishment of an association with a culture that benefits them. Offering back to the general public as a social practice by an association not just improves the dedication of clients to their brands yet in addition draws in progressively through brand mindfulness during the CSR exercises. End As a customer to items from a specific organization, one will undoubtedly encounter their corporate culture through different ways including experiential utilization and administrations advertised. Once more, the representatives also experience and drive the way of life proficiently and through them, it arrives at the outside partners, i.e., customers and network all in all. In building up a culture-based organization, the fundamental beliefs of an association are imperative in deciding whether it will conflict with the current methodologies. With a deliberately made culture, the tasks of an association can't be turned around by the practices. It, consequently, depends on initiative practices to direct how the way of life will be coordinated into exercises. References Baumgartner, R. (2013). An Enhanced Genotype Ethical Issues Involved with Genetic...
An Enhanced Genotype: Ethical Issues Involved with Genetic Engineering and their Impact as Revealed by Brave New World Human society always attempts to better itself through the use of technology. Thus far, as a species, we have already achieved much: mastery of electronics, flight, and space travel. However, the field in which the most progress is currently being made is Biology, specifically Genetic Engineering. In Aldous Huxleyââ¬â¢s Brave New World, humanity has taken control of reproduction and biology in the same way that we have mastered chemistry and physics. Efficiency drives the entire goal of society, leading to the creation of an assembly-line process. The entire society is driven by the desire for efficiency, to the point thatâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Furthermore, the genetic engineering provides the ability to create identical twins for the lower castes. The ââ¬Å"Bokanovskyââ¬â¢s Processâ⬠is used in order to create identical individuals, and has the s ide effect of destroying weaker cells (Huxley 6-7), thus promoting natural selection through eugenics. Not only does the process provide a greater population for the lower castes, the identical nature (that is, lack of individuality) makes the population easier to control. Not only does the genetic engineering process provide the many identical people for the population that is specifically suited to their jobs, it also removes every sense of family. Being raised in vitro without any family helps reinforce the societal values of ââ¬Å"Every one belongs to every one elseâ⬠(Huxley 40). In a society where all personal contacts are repressed, and everyone is expected to consistently change partners, this side effect could not possibly be more beneficial. While genetic engineering is possible in the modern technology (albeit not to the level presented in Brave New World), it comes with significant ethical questions as to if and when the treatment should be applied, as well as who should be receiving the treatment. In Brave New World, there are no ethical dilemmas as to if and how genetic engineering (technically eugenics in the form that it is used) despite the high level of technological advancement. While this is a contrast to the current scientific

This Is Public Health - a Comparison Between Old and New...
As the term ââ¬Ëhealthââ¬â¢ progresses to even more dynamic and ambiguous territories in the world today, health promotion and public health organisations have become increasingly important and prevalent in our society. As the World Health Organisation has tried to define health as ââ¬Ëa state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmityââ¬â¢, it is obvious that health is viewed from many perspectives today and this can help explain the trends and shifts in public health as it tries to address a more modern and relevant set of determinates of health. The determinates of health are the circumstances under which people live that can contribute to their health or ill health and can causeâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Waste that is not properly managed can create serious health or social problems in a community- the spread of diseases, pests and poisons needs to be controlled by the minimisation of waste. Each organisation and council follows structured plans and frameworks to ensure the safety of the community-yet it is still only addressing the treatment of communicable disease. Although these public health systems are necessary in maintaining the health of the community, the fact that they only target communicable disease requires shift to a newer, broader outlook of public health, which is ââ¬Å"distinguished by its basis in a comprehensive understanding of the ways in which lifestyles and living conditions determine health statusâ⬠(WHO, Heath Promotion Glossary, p3). We see this shift clearly in policies and campaigns implemented in primary education and schools. With influences from many other public health organisations such as the ââ¬ËGo for your lifeââ¬â¢ campaign and the Healthy Kids Association, increasing amounts of healthy canteen policy action plans are being fully endorsed by the school community (Healthy Kids Association, 2010). These policies go hand in hand with initiatives put in place by Vic Health like the ââ¬ËWalking School Bus Initiativeââ¬â¢. Canada s Immigration And Refugee Protection Act - 1433 Words
Canadaââ¬â¢s Immigration Policies: Canadaââ¬â¢s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) determines whether or not someone is eligible to immigrate to Canada. There are 3 different sections of the policy, but in general, it factors in nationality, age, language ability, family members, education, work experience, and income. Within the different areas of the immigration policy, which are economic, family reunification, and refugee, there are more specific things looked at in applicants. In the economic area, applicants are rewarded points based on their level of education, ability to speak English and/or French, income, and previous work experience. The family reunification section includes spouses and children joining family members that are already living in Canada, or same-sex couples that are not legally married if there are restrictions in the country they are coming from. These immigrants have to provide proof and demonstrate that they are related to, married to, or in a committed relationship with the person they claim to be joining. A smaller portion of the immigrants coming to Canada are considered to be refugees. Refugees must be part of a humanitarian resettlement program, which is a Canadian program that helps people seeking protection outside of Canada with the help of international partners, or claim for asylum protection, which is where Canada provides protection for those who would be in danger if they returned to their own country. Performance Management in Human Resource Management
Question: Discuss about the Performance Management in Human Resource Management. Answer: Introduction The purpose of the report is to examine and to get an in-depth knowledge of the part played by HR in creating a sustainable organization. In this report functioning of two hospitals is analyzed on the basis of their human resource functions and practices. Both the hospitals possess a diverse set of HR practices and policies which poses a direct impact over the operations of the hospitals in multiple ways (Florea, Cheung and Herndon, 2013). The case study of first hospital shows that there are certain issues prevailing because of the absence of a proper human resource department. On the other hand the second hospital is successful enough because of the fact that it possesses an adequate human resource department. The major part of the report will show that how the HRM of the first hospital can be better and improved. Course of action suggested to the CEO in the 1st hospital for achieving an improved HRM operations N the case study it has been analyzed that the first hospital neither has a dedicated HR department nor a dedicated HR manager. All the responsibilities and functions of the HR department has been taken care up by the middle managers only. For achieving better HRM operations in the hospital there is a need of a proper course of action. For achieving an enhanced and better human resource department a set of actions or activities will be suggested to the CEO of the first hospital. This will help the CEO in taking suitable actions. It is the first step in the course of action suggested to the CEO i.e. the staffing of few HR specialized individuals who can effectively take care of the human resource functions. As all the responsibilities and functions of the HR department has been taken care up by the middle managers only. This has given rise to a number of difficulties and concerns as the middle managers do not have complete awareness of HRM. Hence for achieving better human resource management it is necessary to have proper and expert staff in the human resource department so that they can make the department work appropriately (Marsden, Caffrey and McCaffery, 2013). Introduction and implementation of HR policies The second action suggested to the CEO is the introduction and development of few vibrant and valuable HR practices and policies. The hospital needed some well structured and better policies in the HR department. As presently there is no adequate HR policy which can guide the other staff members and this develops circumstances which spoil the effectual running of the various hospital functioning. Hence it can be suggested that the introduction and implementation of the new and better human resource practices and policies will enhance and advance the functioning of all the other departments (Marler and Fisher, 2013). Untying the knots developed between the HR functions and the middle managers Once the HR experts have been appointed the middle managers must separate themselves from the HR department and the functions associated with the department. A number of difficulties and concerns take place in the hospital as the middle managers do not have complete awareness of HRM which results into inappropriate management of things. It give rise to other concerns too such as because of handling multiple responsibilities the middle managers do not focus upon their core work or department. Hence it is necessary to assign the responsibilities as per the qualifications and knowledge of the individuals. Thus, it is essential that the managers do not get engaged with the working of human resource department anymore (Buyens and Verbrigghe, 2015). Once there has been introduction of certain effective HR practices and policies it is very much essential to make an obligatory application and implementation of those policies. If the policies have only been introduced then it will not work on their own so it is necessary to make them implement in an adequate way. To check the implementation of the policies there must be control channels. There must be strict penalties over the employees who does not implement and follow the practices (Armstrong and Taylor, 2015). Setting up of an open forum for handling the issues of employee There are various issues and concerns from which the employees go through. It is essential to resolve them on primary basis. These issues affect the organization in various negative ways. In a same way the absence of a proper human resource management there are several problems which are prevailing in the hospital. And it is essential to resolve those concerns. It has been suggested to the CEO that he must place an open forum. This will help the employees in having an open discussion with the entire senior management team and with the colleagues. The employees grievances will be resolved on a primary basis as the employees from all the managerial level will involve in the open forum discussion. This will result into les workplace conflicts (Mowbray, Wilkinson and Tse, 2015). Introducing policies for increasing the retention rate The employees of the hospital are leaving on a continuous basis and this is a serious concern which is required to be managed. The employees are not willing to be a part of the hospital which results into increased absenteeism. The issues are the result of the increased employee grievances and inadequate HRM. Hence it is suggested to the CEO that there must be introduce various employee welfare and benefit programmes which can boost the morale of the workers and can motivate them to be the part of the hospital for a longer period of time. There can be given monetary benefits, incentives, growth opportunities and perks for their motivations and to have an increased retention rate of the employees (Salome, et al., 2014). The final action suggested to the CEO is to have regular checks and strict evaluation over the functions and operations of the hospital. It is essential to check whether the employees and the various staff members are working appropriately or not. There are various methods which can be taken use of such as benchmarking, interview or hidden survey etc. these evaluation techniques will support the hospital in analyzing the performance of the workers. It will also assist in identifying the concerns and issues at the primary stage only (Katiyar and Khalid, 2014). Chief features of structuring a sustainable Human Resource capability To have a long term success the one of the necessary element is the sustainable human resource capability. The organizations which possess effective HRM generally have increased retention rate of the employees. There are several advantages of sustainable and competent human resource management such as effective implementation of the HR policies, discipline in the organization, improved staffing and recruitment, increased employee welfare etc. There are several factors which support the attainment of a sustainable and competent HR capability such as development of leadership, various learning and development, health and safety and governance and ethics. The capable and the potential employees of the organization must get opportunities of leadership for achieving a sustainable human resource capability. There is enhanced involvement of the employees with such leadership opportunities and the employees get motivated to work hard for grabbing such growth based opportunities. The safety and health of the workers are also regarded as the aspect of the human resource department in number of organizations. To provide adequate health and safety based facilities is one of the functions of the HR department. Hence it is also one of the chief features in creating a sustainable HR capability. The increased and improved workplace environment and health benefits will enhance the association of the employees with the organization. This will increase the retaining rate which shows the better and improved HRM (Driessen, et al., 2015). There is a robust association between the employee engagement and the sustainable HR capability. The one major challenge in attaining the sustainability aim is that in what manner the employees can be associated with the organization for a longer period of time. If the organization is not able to maintain a long term association with its employees then it will not be able to attain future sustainability. The attrition rate reveals the efficacy of the HR department. Then increased attrition rate shows the inefficiency of the HR department and the decreased attrition rate displays that there is efficient HR practices and policies in the organization (Subramaniam, Selvanayagam and Yogarajah, 2016). Ethics and governance The strong governance and ethics is one most important feature for creating sustainable HR capability. Increased ethicality results into greater development. If there is increase level of ethics in the operations of HR department then the other employees get motivated and work with more dedication. It helps in creating an environment of greater moral sustainability. For making the employees understand the significance of working ethics there can be provided several training programs to the employees on the obligatory application of ethics in the working operations (Van Buren III and Greenwood, 2013). The HR department is responsible for making the employees educate in concerning sustainable development. The improved and valuable training and development sessions results into enhanced performance management. It is one of the chief features in creating HR capability. These trainings will support building of strong association between the employees which will result into increased productivity and retention rate. Conclusion The report provides a clear result of analysis that in creating a sustainable organization HR plays a very important role. It has been concluded that where there are effective HR department there are less issues and grievances as well as those organizations are more successful in nature. Whereas it has been evaluated that there are increased number of workplace issues such as high rate of attrition, absenteeism and conflicts as well as lesser chances for growth in the organizations where there is absence of an appropriate HR department and an effective HR manager. Thus it can be clearly state that for attaining higher organizational sustainability it is required to have a much effective and dedicated HR department in the organization. Recommendations There are little recommendations for the CEO of the first hospital for achieving an improved and effective organizational sustainability as well as human resource management: For having a different and strategic opinion and approach there must be employment of a HR expert from outside the hospital so that the issues can be resolved with an innovative and new approach. In the new and improved HR policies there must some additional benefits offered to the employees so that those policies can have a positive impact over the working of the employees and it can act as a motivation for them. There must be taken use of an approach of one-to-one discussion. This will help the employees in discussing their problems with the senior authorities. It will result into fast resolution of concern and increased employee engagement and dedication towards work (Alfes, ET AL., 2013). References Alfes, K., Shantz, A. D., Truss, C., Soane, E. C. I Am Violently Warring For Peace. I Know This Is A Paradox, And Im Ess
I am violently warring for peace. I know this is a paradox, and I'm rather proud because it is true. Passivity has been a lifelong threat, laziness a constant lure in my search for identity. This world begs me to succumb to existing in the image of someone else, it asks only that I slip silently and blindly into the niche it provides instead of carving my own. I required a long time to work up courage to fight for the serenity I had glimpsed in hot summer woods and in lovingly handled books read late until the early morning. Doubt had established itself in my mind at some early age, when or why I do not know, and I could trust any person or group more than myself. Doubt begat fear, and fear gave birth to obscuring myself from the eyes of the world while I was a child. Now, I am dedicated to the fight, after over five years of fear and immobility. I rejected the easiest way out of life, and demanded truth. I strengthened my body as I strengthened my mind against the attacks I faced. When I was fifteen I started Tae Kwon Do, the martial arts class that was offered through my school. I learned more about blocking, kicking, and punching in the first two weeks of that class than I had known my entire life. My once powerless body, petite and thin, could knock the wind out of someone with a well placed punch, and I could kick people taller than me in the head. So what I could do, I did, and now my friends instinctively block when they see me grin mischievously in their direction. I am content to know I have taught them something useful. Last spring for the third time in a row, I shakily accepted my teacher's hand as he congratulated me on second place in women's division sparring. It was a bittersweet triumph, three times now I have lost to the same girl. She has become an icon for everything I wish to triumph over in this world. She is beautiful, hair like black silk, impeccable taste in clothing, makeup like a Renaissance painting, and average when it comes to everything else. I watch her silently stride into art class on three inch heels, skirt above her knee, no runs in her stockings, and manicured nails smoothing invisible wrinkles from he shirt. I look down at myself, one of my shirt buttons missing, securely replaced with a safety pin, my comfortable green pants provide freedom of movement if little style, and my sturdy black shoes have been with me for three years. I hear my voice laughing almost too loudly, physics notes are sticking out of my sketchbook, and I am well aware of that I am not average. I fight this opponent I have created and what she represents not because she chooses to live her life by the beauty standard, and not because I feel inferior. We are at war because no one outside of Tae Kwon Do class ever sees what she is capable of. They don't know that those perfectly moisturized hands can break through boards or leave your head spinning. No one knows that those feet captured in three inch heeled prisons can leave you hurting for days, bruised where you blocked, bruised and bleeding where you failed to. I fight her because she is a symbol of how I tried to hide myself and my potential. I'm tired of being afraid of how the world will respond to me, and I war against the part of myself that would rather just please fashion magazines and popular concepts. Peace comes from accepting my identity, not from hiding it. I will laugh loudly at outside ideas of who I am supposed to be, kick down the opposition to my goals, and I will continue to fight until I have my peace.

Admiral Stockdale essays
Admiral Stockdale essays Through reading this article by Admiral Stockdale, I have certainly become inspired. His perspective on life and education is most honorable. Through deprivation he has prospered, he let his intellect take over and was able to let go of a materialistic status. Which is what most Americans strive on. Mr. Stockdale starts his article with the conviction that the best preparation for a full and successful life, surely entails a proper blend of classical and contemporary studies. He elaborates more in the end of his article by stating a deeper perspective on education, The challenge of education is not to prepare a person for success, but to prepare him for failure. I feel this statement is a more realistic view on how education would be more effective. If the masses of students that attend public education were enlightened to the resources they would need in time of crisis, instead of only teaching tools of success. Our American people would be more a well-rounded society. In our society people only begin to understand how to handle a crisis after the fact. The masses of Americans are taught to only succeed for only themselves, and when a crisis or failure takes place these people are usually alone fending for themselves. A strong society needs to help it self, and not turn its head to the needy. Mr. Stockdale refers to Homers epic, The Iliad, The scene when Hector is leaving his wife and baby son on his way to a sure death in battle. This type of selflessness and sense of duty would be looked down upon in todays American society. Instead remarks like how dumb was he and I would never do that are most likely to be heard. Mr. Stockdale was given the opportunity to leave the prison on the bases that he would disavow American Imperialism, which is something he did not lower him self to. The majority of the American people has never been threatened against their...

Giotto Di Bondone: Art Style Analysis
Giotto Di Bondone: Art Style Analysis Giotto di Bondone (c. 1277-1337) was a Florentine painter who is widely celebrated as one of the most revolutionary and influential artists in the Trecento Italy. The 16th century art historian Giorgio Vasari praises Giottos gifted artistic talent, intellectual acumen, and pictorial precision: He became such an excellent imitator of Nature that he completely banished that crude Greek style and revived the modern and excellent art of painting. Giotto transformed the flat Byzantine approach by pursuing the naturalistic style that had been neglected by his artistic predecessors. Through close observation of nature, Giotto gave life to forms on a two-dimensional surface. Arguably, his most renowned work is the fresco cycle in Arena Chapel, Padua. Completed around 1305, the fresco paintings in the interior of Arena Chapel were commissioned by Enrico Scrovegni, who dedicated the chapel to the Virgin of Charity in order to repent his and his father Reginaldos sins of usury. In the thirty-ei ght scenes of the cycle, Giotto employed a dramatic narrative program. The episodes not only serve as a visual language showing the lives of the Virgin and Christ, but also reveal a sense of drama and display human interiority that demand the viewers intellectual and psycholocial engagment. How was Giotto able to convey drama and achieve communicative potential? This paper attempts to answer the question by analyzing his artistic style. Before embarking on our discussion of how Giottos artistic elements are dictated in Arena Chapel, we should first look at the organization of the fresco cycle. The thirty-eight episodes are arranged in three registers; the lives of Mary and her parents, Joachim and Anna, begin on the top level, the life and the mission of Christ are depicted on the middle level, and the Passion, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Christ are on the lower level. The base level below has grisaille paintings alternating with the Virtues and Vices, which are painted in shades of gray in order to mimic marble and sculpture. The Last Judgment, perhaps the climax of the narrative cycle, fills up the majority of the west entrance wall. The barrel-vaulted nave of the chapel is executed in blue-the color that is echoed in all of the backgrounds of the panels, thus enhancing coherence. Each fresco section is surrounded has ornamental borders that not only function as dividing frames but also serve to heighten the realisitc quality of the painted scenes. Emotionalism in Giottos narrative is strengthened by his technique of averting some of his figures from the viewers eyes. He does this consciously by positioning his figures on their backs to the viewers or showing figures only in their profiles. His treatment of figures shows his interest in revealing stories and portraying emotions by concealing some forms. Lamentation in the lower register of the left wall from the chapels entrance shows the essence of his technique. The two mourners who are seen from their backs are not incidental in their positions but play an important role in communicating human drama. The mourning figure in the left corner is holding the head of Christ while the other is holding his right hand. Although we as viewers are not able to witness their facial expressions, we are able to feel the presence of their grief in absence. Through inexplicit images, Giotto is allowing the viewers to internally create an image and feel their silent mournings. Perhaps the rea son that the seated mourners are so simple and voluminous is that Giotto expects the viewers to add details through our own imagining. A similar technique can be seen in Giottos Kiss of Judas, where a relatively small sized figure in a hooded cloak is turning his back to the viewers. Right in front of the figure is Peter stretching his right hand to cut Malchus ear. Giotto included the anonymous figure to let the viewers contemplate and imagine the face of a tormentor who participates in the atrocity. In this way, onlookers can experience deeper emotional responses and relate to the biblical narrative in a much more empathetic way. Baxandall calls such experience a visualizing meditation and states that by omitting details, an artist complements the beholders interior vision. Giotto renders psychological drama through striking gestures and facial expressions on his figures. These elements are the most evident in Lamentation. The ten angels above the body of Christ are frantically flying and thrusting their bodies toward the viewers. They are moving with such great speed and energy that their robes seem to melt into the sky as they dart through the air. Their ghastly expressions of grief allow viewers to empathize. It is also crucial to note that none of them looks the same; each is individualistic in his or her poses and expressions. The angel on the lower right side is wrenching her hair with her two hands while another has her arms outstretched. The one in the middle is dashing toward the viewers with his mouth half open while another covers his face with his drapery. The motions, contortions, and foreshortening of their bodies are so powerfully depicted that their agony and despair are almost palpable. The movement of Saint John the Evangelist is also dramatically represented. He is standing up and bending his body to look down at Christ while throwing his arms back as if in utter shock and disbelief. The pain is apparent in his contorted face. His posture is evocative of the cross, which symbolizes the suffering of Christ. The gesture of Saint John the Evangelist not only heightens the psychological drama but also tells us that he has the room to do it. Thus, it creates an illusionistic space, depth and perspective that make the narrative panel much more true to life. Through a combination of different gestures and expressions, Giotto offers a range of sadness that provokes a powerful emotional response. Giottos narrative is much more dramatized by its sensory impact. Giotto is successful in not only communicating emotions visuallly but also is effective in appealing to the tactile and olfactory senses. In Giottos Meeting at the Golden Gate, viewers can feel the affinity through the touch of Joachim and Anna at the bridge in front of the Golden Gate. Anna is wrapping her hand around the neck of Joachim and her other hand is embracing his cheek while Joachim is drawing Anna toward him. Giotto positioned them so close to each other that their bodies and faces seem to merge in to one flesh. It is the touch that intensifies the old couples blissful emotion. By stimulating the tactile perception of the viewers, Giotto is able to communicate with the psychology of the viewers minds. As Gombrich writes, it is touch that enable[s] us to reconstitute the three-dimensional form in our minds. Giotto has also captured the drama of human interaction in Raising of Lazarus. Here, Giotto included tw o figures on the right who stand directly beside Lazarus. Both have covered their mouths and noses with their cloaks and one of them is even turning away from the scene as if the odor emanating from the decayed body of Lazarus was too sickening to tolerate. Their reactions to the smell add a depth of reality and signal the interaction among the characters portrayed. Through the presence of the two covered figures, Giotto has captured the feeling of unpleasantness. In fact, by appealing to the olfactory senses, Giotto allowed the viewers to become active participants rather than passive observers. Giottos series of fresco paintings in Arena Chapel are the culmination of his artistic skills. Various techniques are combined to communicate with the viewers. Through the concealment, gestures, expressions and tactility of his figures, Giotto provokes a strong emotional response from the viewers who are led to meditate upon his paintings. He has consciously employed his intelligence, ability and precision to suffuse his narrative scenes with human drama, interaction and emotions. Indeed, they are not merely well crafted mural paintings to be passively enjoyed but are combinations of powerful narratives to be actively interpreted. Ultimately, Giottos interest in human experience and naturalism has made the narrative cycle in Arena Chapel so profound and communicative.

Essay --
The Vietnam War was fought from December 1956 to April 1975 in the Indohchina region that encompasses Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. At its most basic level, it can be described as a war between the communist regime in North Vietnam, headed by Ho Chi Minh, with its sympathizers in the South and the Southern non-communist Vietnamese regime. Its roots can be traced back to the end of the Second World War, when Ho Chi Minh and the Vietminh (nationalist communist party) seized power in formally French-controlled Vietnam after the Japanese occupants withdrew. France, unwilling to relinquish their power, sent troops into Indochina in order to regain their control. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh continued to consolidate his power through his Soviet and Chinese communist alliesââ¬âemploying tactics such as imprisonment, exile, and sometimes even murder to be rid of any political opposition or threats to his Communist regime. The struggle continued until the Vietnimhââ¬âwith Chinese support in weapons and advisingââ¬âtook siege of the village Dien Bein Phu, where French troops were located. In May 1954, the Vietnamese successfully took the village, and soon after that the French left Indochina all together acknowledging their defeat. In the late 50s, South Vietnam was under control of Ngo Dinh Diem, who implemented a severe and brutal anti-Communist regime, leading to small collectives of communist revolutionaries, who eventually in 1959 were supported and aided materially by the North. Thus the Vietnam War as we know it today began. The Communist North, aided by Chinese and Soviet allies, fought battles with the anti-communist South, aided primarily by the U.S. Yet, how did the U.S. become involved so heavily in a war that seemed to have nothing to do with... ...relenting. It is argued that a fundamental difference between the experiences of Vietnam vets as opposed to veterans of other wars is that veterans of a war such as World War II, though still had a difficult time with what they did and witnessed, had a feeling that what they did in the war was significant and important beyond what they individually may have seen or doneââ¬âthere was a greater purpose to all of it (i.e. WWII stopping the Nazi invasion and terror). However, considering the turn the war in Vietnam tookââ¬âhow the U.S. public eventually protested strongly against it and its goalsââ¬âthat feeling was not always present for the surviving soldiers. This fact among the various other factors like the horrors and gruesomeness of the war contributes to the widespread psychological problems that plagued the veterans of the war long after they returned home to the U.S.

Being Single and Being Married Essay
When I was twenty years old, my mother told me that it was times for me to get married. I replied to my mother whenever I succeed in life and able and anxious to protect our family, I am going to think about having a home of their own. Not only I but also people who is living in todayââ¬â¢s society, tends to being single or married later. However, living in every situation has every its own advantages and disadvantages. There are some differences that I know between being single and being married, such as: times, finances and relationships. Firstly, the difference between being single and being married is times. Every morning waking up, doing house work calling to friends or going to shopping is the life of single. That is life without the constraints, so freedom and independence are slogan of single persons. They have a lot of time to go anywhere or do anything that they like. Opposite to being single, married life is a race against time. Exception time spent of work, most of the remaining time is for family. The time for the family as teaching, taking care of child, cooking or housework is one of the conditions required in marriage. Time is seen as a wire to close people in the family together. It creates happiness that everyone wants to be. So, being married is a hot thread that persons who take interest in, spends a lot of time to think and get experiences about it. Another difference between being single and being married is finances. Being single controls money by oneself, and cost of single life is cheaper than married life. Kinds of insurances, types of taxes and everything that relate to life, is anxiety of being married. When a couple wants to get married each other, they always care about cost of their life. On the other hand, single persons are paid salary every month, and they spend their life by their money. Single persons do not need to worry much about finances. However, this case is not always right, sometimes it is reversed. Finally, the difference between being single and being married is relationships. Being single makes many relationships and has many friends. Life of being single is not bind of any relationship. However, that is a serious problem if single person do not have a good relationship. In contrast to being single, being married has family ties. That is a responsibility part of persons in family, but being married has a great moral strength. When people faces to some problems or feeling bad, the first thing which people always think to, is family. Beingà married means having a family, and it is a best moral support. Being single never has these things. The love from friends is able to replace to love from family for a single person, but that thing is a big difference. I n conclusion, the differences between being single and being married are times, finances and relationships. Being single and being married have its advantages and disadvantages. Times are important thing to marriage life, but it is normal for being single. In addition, being single differ to being married, finances are big problems with being married while finances is easy for being single. Relationships are one of matter of persons who are interested in life of marriage. All of these things effect to persons who decide being married or being single. In my mind, later marriage is a best way for current economy life.

He also described the personal and cultural controls, which encourage managers to implement one or both of the positive forces which are typically found in organizations: self-and mutual monitoring. Can be encouraged by these forces in different ways, including effective recruitment, placement, training, job design and provide the necessary resources, codes of conduct, and awards groups, and transfer within the organization, and how physical, social and tone at the top. Has become a personal and cultural controls, which are sometimes referred to as soft controls, more important in recent years. Organizations have become flatter and smaller. Managers and the wi der spans of control and hierarchy of the process and control systems (bureaucracy) has been dismantled and the replacement of staff authority. In this environment, and shared organizational values became an important tool to ensure that any person acting in the interest of the organization. The impact of all these different types of organization mission control in the relationship between the return on investment (ROI) and all these types of controls can be demonstrated as follows: Result control :- And normally used as a result of controls to control the behavior of staff in many organizational levels. The relationship between monitoring of results and return on investment) is that there are many tools of the outcome monitoring, and investment) is a tool that all these tools, even when the return on investment tool good results control approach and I think that controlling behavior is another consequence of effective control over what control focus the behavior of the staff, but the return on investment focus only on the number or value of the revenues and costs, as well as in the fixed assets and working capital, even if there are employees who must be paid for wages and salaries and that kind of spending, but the thing to focus on the value of these employees, and another something the client or the credit is part of the fixed assets in the system (ROI) is not to focus on customer behavior, but the focus on the value of these clients Action control :- Control measures are the most direct type of management control, to ensure the proper functioning of the people must rely on the organization by focusing directly on their work. The relationship between work and monitor the return on investment) and this approach is to control the focus on controlling the actions that occur in organizations, but when this approach has the efficiency and effectiveness of the return on investment can be high, and I think that the work of control refers to the benefits, but also attention to the value of the investment returns of different things or different procedures in organizations. Personal control : Supervision of staff at the personal direction and control of natural or self-stimulation. The relationship between personal control of the return on investment (ROI), I noted at the beginning of personal control and focus on individuals in the organization, employees and customers, but I think that focusing only on the investment returns the quantity or value of these resources is not to satisfy some of the reviews or salary of employees but I believe that this Technical need a lot of people to implement this technology. Cultural control :- The aim of cultural controls to encourage mutual monitoring by a strong set of pressure on individuals who deviate from the Community rules and values. The relationship between culture and the internal return on investment in the case of a culture of support for the implementation (ROI), or when I want to implement any new techniques you must know the culture of the organization. At the end of the mission there relations between the types of control and return on investment Conclusion: All the control types can be used to provide tight control. We can define tight control as in terms of a high degree of assurance that employees will behave as the organization wishes. Mangers should have good knowledge about how the control objectives (action, results, personal, culture) can implement effectively the chosen form of control. Mangers have the authority to change the type of control and replace with another type that provides a better fit with situation for the purpose of tighter. Mangers can use multiple forms of control in the same time to tighten their MCS. Return on investment as a strategic tool. And very important for all types of control. Also we cant measure ROI without measure the profit the question here by what we measure it we should know the cost with cost absolutely we need control all types of control. The Cost of University Drowning Students in Debt Essay
Essays on The Cost of University Drowning Students in Debt Essay The paper "The Cost of University Drowning Students in Debt" is an outstanding example of an essay on education. The cost of higher education has been in the spotlight for a number of years. The United Kingdom education segment has been in the spotlight mainly for the reason that it has become so expensive. Many people especially students are now asking whether it is now valued at the amounts of money they spend to achieve an education. While there is a saying that education is the key to life, the cost of education has significantly increased in recent years (Petersen, 2014). Most students are suffering in schools because of the high costs of education involved. High education cost is a serious problem that should get looked into as soon as possible by the government and other concerned parties. The cost of education has been pinpointed as one of the grounds behind most students drowning in debt today. The high costs have forced most students to borrow more so as to fund their educat ion and in the process drowning in their debts. The cost of education has escalated largely owing to quite a lot of factors. The high cost of living is the chief contributor, and it is evident all over the world. Most schools have to spend more to provide services to their students as a result of the cost of living. The cost, of hiring tutors has also gone up, all higher learning institutions strive to attract the best teachers, and this comes at a cost (Forbes, 2014). Ultimately, all these outlay get transferred to the students and thus increasing the cost of schooling. Students, for this reason, have to look for other sources to meet these costs as well as ensure they live a better life while in school. The Guardian newspaper reported that as of March 2014, most of the students that had gotten loans to finance their education had not paid them back. The commentary recommended that write-off expenses for the above à £10bn in student finances completed annually had gotten to 45%. It implies a reduction in the savings that might get utilized in the time to come. Analysts suggest it has reached a point where the government is losing more money while providing students with education loans, and it might not be sustainable in the future (Mason Malik, 2014). The cause of this problem is the high tuition costs that have pushed students to borrow more than they can payback. The National Center for Education Studies (NCES) suggests that over 40% of students taking bachelor's degrees courses at most universities in the UK do not complete their studies during the standard time which is supposed to be four years. The leading reason for this fact is the high cost of schooling. The NCES also suggests that most of these students live above their means and, for this reason, are driven to take loans from banks that most of them do not pay back in the end. There is a need to address the situation before it gets worse and safeguard the higher education sector for the future. The government has already started some projects aimed at helping students avoid financial ruin while in school. The government has continually encouraged banks to create more benefits for students to enable them to open bank accounts with them. Students are now able to acquire loans from banks and many other financial institutions to help them service their educations, and these loans are given at cheaper costs. Most students are continually getting grants from schools to help them with their studies (Griffin, 2014). Public service loan forgiveness programs are also common within the country to help students who have borrowed and are unable to pay back their loans on time. Parents are also encouraged to make plans early for their children to ensure they do not go through a rough time during their higher education.

Naturalistic play Essay Example For Students
Naturalistic play Essay John Boyton Priestley was born in a Yorkshire town called Bradford. He was born in 1894; sadly that was the same year his mother died. When Priestley turned four years of age, his father, who was a teacher, married again. This brought more stability to his life.Ã John Boyton Priestley got his first job when he was sixteen years old as a junior clerk in a wool company. He used this job to gain experience and became a stepping-stone for his future success. Priestleys father had a network of friends who were socialites. These people inspired Priestly and he based his literary work on their attitudes to society. Their attitudes were that they wanted fair systems; they believed people should be treated equally. These plays are called morality plays. The morality play was a medieval style of drama, which tried to teach the audience a moral lesson. For example, through An Inspector Calls Priestly wanted to ask the audience, how responsible we are as individuals to society. Some play writers used allegory to get this moral question across.Ã An allegory is when something other than a person would represent an idea. For example, in Animal Farm the writer used animals rather than actual people to get the idea of equal rights across. An Inspector Calls is a naturalistic play. Naturalism is when the writer tries to mimics reality closely. He/She focuses on making the play as realistic as possible. By adding close detail to props and the storyline of the play itself. Priestly describes the furniture with great detail at the beginning; he specifies good solid furniture of the period and that the men are in tails and white ties, not dinner jackets. Priestly is showing great detail to the furniture and the outfits. Since the play was set 30 years before it was written Priestly, to make the play more realistic, referred to the fashion of that particular period. This makes the play more enjoyable for the audience and also makes them believe what they are seeing is real. Another example of Naturalism is, that Naturalism was concerned with moving beyond superficial storylines and grapple with social problems. So basically what Priestly has done to make this play a naturalistic play is that he has writ the play about social issues, which could occur in reality. Its as if hes actually writ about something that has really happened in the past even though the play is fictional. A good example of the opposite of what Priestly has done would be Lord Of The Rings, where the play involves giants, wizards and dwarfs. The play is also set on an unrealistic atmosphere where the scenery is very different to Earth. We all know that there is an incredibly small chance of something similar of this happening in reality. This makes Lord Of The Rings not a Naturalistic play. An Inspector Calls is about a wealthy family around the early 1900s, who are all each partly responsible for the death of Eva Smith/Daisy Renton. The play focuss on each of characters reactions when an inspector who actually turned out to be a fake questioned them. Did any of the characters feel guilty or sorry for her death? Did they feel they were nothing to do with it? Priestly wanted the audience to leave asking themselves are we all like this? How responsible are we to others? Priestly via An Inspector Calls was very successful at answering this question.Author Birling is successful businesses man who has been active in local politics. I speak as a hard-headed business man Birling states that he is the kind of person that is very strong minded. Once hes made his mind up nobody is going to change it. We see this attitude when he is being questioned.Ã Theres a very good chance of a knighthood Mr Birling sees a possible knighthood as a fair reward for his involvement in local politics. This will mean a lot more to Birling because a knighthood would equal him to Sir George Croft. Priestley is showing the audience how superficial the honours system can be. .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 , .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 .postImageUrl , .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 , .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52:hover , .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52:visited , .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52:active { border:0!important; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52:active , .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52 .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u05eef4ff07fa66ea98fbdf500aa40f52:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Quiet World Poetry Analysis EssayHe is arrogant and outspoken about his self-centered philospohy of the world. Management Accounting Research free essay sample
It shows that researchers emphasize the importance of practice, but worry about the prospects of a successful cross-fertilization between practice and research, because of the pressure they feel to publish in international research journals. Their contacts with consultants are limited. Consultants have limited access to academic research, because of pressures from their daily work. Knowledge created by consultants is initiated by problems coming from practice; it has to be ready-made for application in practice, and is often a combination of explicit and tacit knowledge. However, our interviews with researchers show a more diffuse picture; the knowledge created by some of them is disciplinary-driven and fundamental, whereas the research of others is more overdriven and applied. Our study hints at two intermediary groups, I. E. Consultant-researchers and consultants working in the expertise entrees of their firms, both of which can potentially overcome hindrances in the communication between consultancy and research. New management and accounting techniques have been developed as a response to this criticism. Because nearsightedness is, for instance, considered to be important for improving the functioning of public sector organizations (Walsh, 1995, up. 51-257; Guthrie et al. , 1999, p. 20; Polite and Backrest, 2000, chapter 4; Grotto and Budding, 2004), accurate information about the full costs of services * Corresponding author. This implies that management accounting ? together with Other spineless like financial reporting, auditing and management may be expected to contribute to a better functioning of the public sector.Management accounting is a practice-oriented discipline, dealing with methods that assist managers in planning and controlling their organization (Mali and Granular, 2009). What methods work, and what do not work, is a question with a high relevance to practice, because it relates to what is perceived as beneficial to and by the users of management accounting methods. This also holds for questions regarding conditions for the successful implementation of those methods. Developing new techniques or approaches in the field of management accounting, or the adaptation of existing ones, are knowledge creation activities.Organizations 84 G. J. Van Helped et al. / Management Accounting Research 21 (2010) 83-94 create knowledge on their own or as part of a network of similar organizations, but they can also use knowledge created by consultants or academic researchers. The types of knowledge consultants and academics create may diverge, because consultants rely largely on their past experiences in comparable situations and academics adhere to their theories and research methods. Moreover, the way consultants and academic researchers rate knowledge may also be influenced by the problems raised by practitioners.Despite their different backgrounds, consultants and academics can also influence each other in creating knowledge for practice; for instance when consultants use the outcomes of academic research, or when academics draw on insights produced by consultancy work. There are some studies on the role of either consultants or academics in knowledge creation on public sector management accounting. Christensen (2005, 2006), for example, documents the prominent influence of auditing firms on the adoption of accrual accounting in the State of New South Wales, Australia. In addition, Lapse and Oldie (2001 ) show that large multinational consultancy firms are promoters of universally applicable tool kits, whereas small locally operating consultancy firms are dedicated to delivering custom- made solutions for public sector practice. Knowledge creation for practice in public sector management accounting by academics is an even less researched issue. Notable is the literature review by van Helped and Northrop (2010) which identifies the practical orientation of the research objective(s) and the practice relevance of conclusions in papers published in international research journals. As far as we know, our study is the first that simultaneously examines the roles that consultants and academics play in public sector management accounting, and their interaction. L The problem We wish to d iscuss is if and in what respects knowledge creation in public sector management accounting by consultants and researchers is distinct and whether a lack of common understanding or communication between them could influence the relevance for practice of the knowledge created. In order to address this problem, we will analyses similarities and differences between consultants and researchers in the way practice influences their knowledge reaction activities, in the knowledge sources they use, and in the type of knowledge they create. Moreover, we examine the ways in which they influence each other in creating knowledge. In addition to providing preliminary findings on these issues, we also suggest directions for future research. This paper not only reports interviews with consultants and academic researchers, but also interviews with consultants working part-time as academics (because they are active in both worlds), and consultants working in expertise centers of their firms (because of their role in disseminating knowledge to their colleague-consultants). All respondents are active in public sector management accounting in the Netherlands. The paper is structured as follows. First, in the next section we briefly sketch the context in which consultants and academic researchers in public sector management accounting operate. The subsequent section then develops theoretical considerations and elaborates the research questions and research methods. Next, the findings of our study are presented. The final section reflects on these findings and suggests directions for future research. 2. Context In this paper, knowledge creation by consultants and academics takes place within he context of public sector reforms. Since the sass, financial accounting reforms in the Netherlands have concentrated on the adoption and further refinement of accrual accounting for local governments and central government agencies (Back, 2003).Management accounting reforms in budgeting, performance measurement and costing are receiving almost continuous attention from governmental organizations (Term Bog and van Helped, 2005; Term Bog, 2008). Often innovations are combined with decentralized forms of governance, such as agencies. The reforms and associated innovations in management and accounting methods are very animal to what is internationally known as New Public Management (Hood, 1995; Kickers, 2000, up. 5?37), which emphasizes the adoption of private sector management techniques and management styles by public sector organizations. Academic researchers who study Dutch management accounting innovations are working in a context of two partly opposing forces. On the one hand, international research publications in peer-reviewed journals have become much more important (Term Bog and Escapes, 2009; see also Mitchell, 2002; Genders, 2008), implying that academic researchers are increasingly driven by developments in academic thought and by the requirements posed by the academic community.

State vs. Non-State Essays
State vs. Non-State Essays State vs. Non-State Essay State vs. Non-State Essay State vs. Non-State When considering the use of violence and non-violence throughout history, or at least in the last 200 years, the term Manifest Destiny comes to mind. Although it is not in itself a violent or for that matter a non-violent action, the idea of Manifest Destiny gave Americans the attitude of Gods will for westward expansion which in turn lead to the violent relocation of the Native Americans, or First Peoples. Through laws, being the non-violent action of relocation, and war on the First Peoples being the violent means to an end. This is not the only idea throughout this time period, ountries throughout the world were all going through change and not all of the changes for the better and not all the changes were made by the state. In 1917, in Russia, the people were getting fed up with the Czars ungodly rule over them. This came to a head during the March Revolution; 90,000 textile workers went on strike during the middle of World War I protesting the shortage of fuel and bread, by the end of the week there was a totally 400,000 striking with signs of Down with the Tsar and Down with the War. The state or in this case the tsar banned protesting and ent in the army to shoot the protesters. This use of violence back fired when the army turned on their officers and Joined in on the protesting, demanding an end to the war. This Revolution led to the downfall of the Tsar, using both violent and non- violent means and involving both the state and non-state peoples. Another form of mass state actors is the formation of the League of Nations in an attempt to secure world peace or at least maintain some form of order throughout the world. This would eventually lead to more violence and then breakdown all together and turning nto the United Nations. The greatest person in History, or at the least the most well known, to do with non-violence would be Gandhi. His idea of satyagraha says in all in the sense of striving for truth and social Justice through love, suffering, and conversion of the oppressor. Gandhi used these ideas in his organization of a mass non-violent resistance campaign against the restriction of Asian immigration and internal freedom of movement in South Africa. Thousands of Indian men and women marched peacefully and all the while withstood beatings, arrest, and imprisonments. Although Gandhi is the leader of South Africa, one could almost call his peaceful campaign a campaign from the non-state actors as they were resisting a higher government, Gandhi was simply the face of the body. A solid idea of state actors using violence and non-violence to get their way would be Mussolinis Black Shirts and their attempt and success in ridding the country of Spain of socialist buy destroying their newspapers and headquarters. Mussolini used their form of chaos to step forward as the countries savior and became a leading fgure in World War II on the Axis side of power. Hitler was also another clever man in his use of non- violence, surprising I know. Hitler would use his elegant speeches to sway the minds of the Germans and convince them that everything he goes to do is in their interest. Using his control over their thoughts, in a manner of speaking, he would push through laws such as Enabling Act that gave him dictatorial power for the next four years. Non-violent to the core, but this kind of power cannot be held without violence. actors, which are famous for their extreme use of violence to an end. They were ordered to arrest and shoot without trail about thousand long-time Nazi storm roopers, this led to army leaders throughout Germany to swear total obedience to Hitler. Past the state actors are famous non-state actors such as Lech Walesa and the Solidarity movement. This movement by non-state actors was an attempt to for increased rights for workers and a new political reform. Walesa and the rest of his group used their power, despite being outlawed by the Communist, to bring about a free election in 1989 and this eventually led to the Fall of the Berlin Wall. Non- violence eventually prevailed in Europe and the end of the Cold War followed soon after.
